In 1906 this lodge was organized under the leadership of Worshipful Master Marbury Harris. At this time it was called the W.E. Miller Lodge. This lodge held their meetings in Kelly Hall.
In 1909 the name was changed to True Level.
In 1921 the lodge moved into their new building on Swatzh Street, Houston, TX.
In 1952 under the leadership of Worshipful Master M.L.Ward property was purchased and a building was constructed at 4212 Lyons Avenue (5th Ward District) Houston, Tx. Relocating the lodge from Swatzh Street to Lyons street was important due to the State of Texas purchasing property for building Highway 59.
In 1976 the lodge under the leadership of Worshipful Master N.J. Redwood decided to work on paying off the mortgage for the property at 4212 Lyons Avenue. His project was successful and the lodge celebrated their goal of paying off the remaining debt of the building.
WM Redwood held his position from 1976 –1982.
The historic True Level Building, located in the heart of 5th Ward at 4212 Lyons Avenue, is the home of True Level Lodge No. 226 .
This 10,000 square-foot building has four business lease spaces on its lower level. The lodge, located on the 2nd floor, is a place where Masons and Eastern Stars have gathered for more than 80 years to practice their craft.
This historic Lodge Hall is adorned with memorabilia of past Worshipful Masters dating back to 1906. A pictorial history of early Eastern Star members is also represented on adjourning walls. The Social Hall is complete with a full kitchen and has hosted many teas, balls, and other social events.
Today the True Level Lodge has continued to be recognized in the Houston area. Hosting and participating in various community services events in and around the city has continued to make its mark by helping others. Under the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Texas and jurisdiction, True Level has played a role in providing assistance in state level projects when called upon.
